History tells us that Marion Cotillard loves a short, specifically, a Chanel short. On the red carpet or at a sun-drenched photo call on the French Riviera seemingly calls for the summer staple at any time of the year. While it is said that three makes a trend, what is six or even seven repeats? We call it signature. The French actress continued her streak this week when she stepped out onto the cobblestone streets of her native city for Paris Haute Couture Week with Chanel.

Instead of the classic tailored short, Cotillard opted for slightly more risqué hot pants. It was paired with an embellished striped shirt, a gold buckle belt and sheer stockings. The ensemble was finished with black pumps and round sunglasses. The actress was in the company of Lucy Boynton at the front row who also chose to wear teeny tiny shorts.

The 46-year-old frequents Cannes Film Festival and has been spotted on multiple occasions and across several different years with an iteration of the creeping hemline. In May of this year, Cotillard attended a daytime soirée in Cannes boldly wearing sequin hot pants underneath a spliced Chanel knit. The evening prior she walked the red carpet in a tiny chiffon playsuit.

Cannes was also the location of two more chic appearances from the Chanel ambassador. In 2021 was the moment for longer bike shorts while 2019 marked the abs-baring low slung knit shorts.
