June 15, 2021: Nature is healing, and the fashion industry is recovering as we start to see the light at the end of the tunnel that is the coronavirus pandemic. The most recent news? Marc Jacobs is returning to the runway on Monday, June 28, to present his Fall-Winter 2021 collection. He’s the latest of multiple designers that have announced they will be returning to New York Fashion Week. As fashion aficionados are well-aware, he previously was associated with exaggerated fashion week shows and parties typically closing NYFW every season. Now, he adds himself to a long list of global designers who decided they will stray from the traditional fashion calendar and show off-season.

Jacobs took to his personal Instagram account on Monday, June 14, and posted a yellow image to his 1.6 million loyal followers that read, “Runway Marc Jacobs Fall 2021 6.28.21 NYC,” and in the accompanying caption, wrote,  “happiness.” A few hours later, the luxury brand’s Instagram posted the same image with the caption “6.28.21,” double-confirming our suspicions that we will be graced with a new Marc Jacobs collection this month.

This upcoming collection (which hasn’t been confirmed if it will be in person or digital) will mark the designer’s imminent return after a two-season hiatus. Jacobs’ last runway show for his eponymous namesake label was in February 2020, ahead of the coronavirus pandemic. Since then, he’s taken a step back to focus on his more youth-focused lines: The Marc Jacobs and Heaven.

This upcoming New York Fashion Week season is elevating to new levels, even from a pre-pandemic standpoint. Major labels including Altuzarra, Thom Browne (who both in previous years shown their collections in London), Brandon Maxwell, Jason Wu, Markarian, Monse, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, Rodarte, Sergio Hudson, and Telfar have already announced their return this upcoming season
