Maison Margiela x Gentle Monster is the latest high-fashion collaboration to have on your radar.
Imagined by the French couture’s house Creative Director John Galliano and the global fashion eyewear brand Gentle Monster, the genderless collection was created with the shared belief for experimental craftsmanship. Together the two created 11 designs including sunglasses and optical frames. The line includes structured designs in acetate and a glossy color palette of black, white, gray, translucent and tortoiseshell.
One pair of frames, the MM003, draws from sports eyewear designs with its aviator silhouette. There are dual-wear shades that can be worn as a headband or tiara back-to-front which reveals the Maison Margiela logo on the top of the eyewear’s bridge. Its sides are adorned with authentic details of Maison Margiela’s iconic four white stitch — a detail that appears throughout the collection. Other styles include a classic oval shape, a bold cat eye, and more. Prices in this collection range from $320-$680.
No detail was missed, including the packaging which draws inspiration from Maison Margiela’s “Glam Slam” clutch and incorporates Gentle Monster’s aesthetic. The collaboration will be released on Feb. 28 and will be sold at Gentle Monster and Maison Margiela’s website and retailers.
