If you thought Lily James was unrecognizable when she transformed herself into a walking, talking version of a young, Baywatch-era Pamela Anderson for Hulu’s Pam & Tommy, we’ve got news for you: not only has the British actress, once again, proved she’s a human chameleon, but she looks even more unlike herself than ever.
After wearing Versace to both the Met Gala — a custom lilac dress with intricate beading — and Oscars red carpet — a sleeveless light pink maxi dress with floral detailing — this year, James is now a full-blown Versace girl with her own campaign for the Italian fashion house, for which she underwent a gothic glam makeover.
In new images shared to Instagram, the 33-year-old has jet-black hair with a blunt fringe which is paired with overdrawn dark purple lipstick. Her eyebrows are bleached blonde, eyes are free of makeup and gone is her Baywatch fake tan.
In the first image Versace shared, James wears a black sleeveless corset dress with visible boning and a cinched waist with a pair of elbow-length latex gloves. She holds Versace’s Greca Goddess bag over the top of her head, coordinating the bag’s gold hardware with matching gold bracelets and large earrings. Leaving her mouth slightly open to accentuate her pout and smizing, as Tyra Banks would say, James looks like a literal model.
“Thank you @donatella_versace for setting me free with your Greca Goddess bag. In Italy. In @versace.I live for this. Love you,” James wrote alongside the image, to which Versace’s designer quickly responded, “You are perfection! Absolutely STUNNING.”
James also shared a behind-the-scenes photo to her Instagram stories, showing her posing with Versace in a red long-sleeve dress with a cut-out and exposed boning at the stomach and matching red pointed-toe boots. Adding to the gothic vibe are James’ layered choker necklaces. “This. Is. A. Dream,” she wrote.
An Instagram commenter put it best, writing simply, “SERVE.”
