Crete, nail polish Lil Yachty is the latest celebrity to get involved in the cosmetics world thanks to the rapper’s new line of nail polishes, entitled Crete, set to drop its first color collection entitled Negatives 001 on Friday, May 21. “I’d like to introduce my new nail paint line @crete__co,” Yachty wrote in an Instagram post announcing the news on May 3. “FIRST COLOR DROP MAY 21. 4 ALL GENDERS. FOR YOU, NOT THEM!”

A video shared on Instagram previewed colors from the line, which look to be varied neutrals of black, grey, and white. In a second post, the founder shared up-close images of the product, and our eyes immediately went to that packaging. Crete polishes come in sleek, long satin black tubes with a click-style top, which is nothing like we’ve ever seen before—a rare sentiment in today’s highly saturated beauty market.

Crete, nail polish

Per a press release shared with GRAZIA USA, the line “introduces nail paint reinterpreted with an innovative art pen design in three exclusive colorways of monochromatic shades encouraged to make painting nails accessible.” For those who struggle with a DIY manicure, the concept of an easy-to-use “art pen” is nothing short of a dream come true.

Crete is a gender-neutral line of nail paint. Still, its marketing is primarily directed toward men to represent the newest age of masculinity, embodies the brand’s “For You, Not Them” motto, one that promotes self-expression for all. As said by Lil Yachty himself, “If you find painting your nails is a way to show your creative side, or it’s an aesthetic that fits you, you shouldn’t be judged for it.”

It doesn’t come as a major surprise that Yachty is jumping into the nail polish game—it makes perfect sense. Along with celebrities like Harry Styles and Lil Nas X, he loves to rock graphic nail trends and polish and has been doing so for a long time. His philosophy? “Outside opinion shouldn’t have an effect on your aesthetic and whatever you decide to do,” the founder said in a statement. “[Crete] is a reflection of that.”
