Laura Harrier has shared the secrets to her clear, glowing complexion and we are the extremely willing recipients of such pertinent information. The model and actor recently broke down every step of her skincare routine in a new video, revealing the products she relies on to manage her acne-prone skin.

Harrier began with her morning routine, which is actually a continuation of her routine from the night before. “Last night I slept with this mask on – this is Kora Organics’ Noni Glow Sleeping Mask ($62) – so now that it’s the morning I’m going to wash everything off and start my skincare,” she says, before removing the excess overnight mask with a muslin cloth, adding, “I keep a whole stack of these in my bathroom because I feel like wash cloths and towels scratch my face – it just feels cleaner and softer.”

She then cleanses with a facial wash, giving herself a gentle facial massage to wake up her lymphatic drainage system in the morning. Harrier reveals that although her complexion is clear now, she once struggled with “cystic acne”, which prompted her to take her skincare routine more seriously.

“I think it was hormonal. I was traveling a ton and I was probably stressed and I just broke out so badly,” she recalled, adding that in her late twenties, “It was really alarming and upsetting [and] that really forced me to get even more into skincare and do a lot of research and try to figure out how to balance what’s happening on my face.”

Harrier then uses the famed Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 1970 to tone and gently exfoliate, which is a key step for those who struggle with acne to keep blemishes in check. The product is notoriously active on the skin, so Harrier delicately blots in on with a cotton pad as she applies it to her face. “It doesn’t smell great, but it’s worth it!”

Next she opts for eye cream, more specifically the sell-out cult Clarins Total Eye Lift. “I really love this stuff, I’ve been using it for a few months and I see a huge difference in the circles under my eyes, the darkness – it just feels like it’s really opening up the whole area and getting rid of any fine lines and wrinkles that were there,” she says, pressing it under her eyes and around towards her brown bone, all the way up to her temples.

Harrier then adds a few drops of Biologique Recherche Placenta Repairing Serum to hydrate and heal her skin, followed by the ever-popular iS Clinical Pro-Heal Serum Advance Plus serum to strengthen and firm her complexion. Finally she protects her skin against the elements with sunscreen as the final step in her skincare routine, as we all should.

“You’ve gotta wear sunscreen, it’s really important,” says Harrier, as she puts on Control Corrective Skin Care Systems’ Oil-Free Sunscreen SPF 30. “I wear this everyday, as my moisturizer for daytime… As a woman of color, it’s so hard to find a sunscreen that doesn’t make me look grey or ashy or leave a weird film on my face [but] this brand doesn’t do that at all,” she explains.
