With the world so incredibly bleak at the moment, trust super cute actress Laura Harrier to provide some much-needed warmth to the world.
Over the weeked, the star of Netflix series, ‘Hollywood’, was radiant in a marigold slip dress that could very well be the sartorial equivalent of sunshine, proving that happy dressing can make you feel happier (even if it just for a moment). Better still, the dress is by our favourite all-girl fashion gang, Bec & Bridge.
Wearing the Australian brand’s Seraphine Lace Up Midi Dress in tangerine, it seems Harrier made a deliberate choice to wear a colour that unequivocally evokes sunshine and happiness, captioning the mini photoshoot with the sunset emoji and posing against a sun-dappled sky.
The dress bears the stamp of both Laura Harrier’s style and Bec & Bridge, the slip dress a long-standing signature of the brand. With its distinctly ’90s aesthetic – a cowl neckline, fine rouleau straps and lace-up back – it’s a modern take on the slip dresses of the decade and one Harrier was obviously drawn to given her own predilection for the era.
The actress has long been a proponent of ’90s fashion, only recently uploading a series of #stayhome outfits with a clear ’90s bent. There was even a flash of marigold back in April, with Harrier wearing a marigold tube top and kitschy hoop earrings in jellybean green.
For most, a revised at-home workday has also seen a revised wardrobe, with stylish slacks subbed out for sweat pants and lashings of mascara replaced with midday masks. But via Instagram, Harrier declared a kind of fashion war on bad at-home wardrobes, and instead of dressing down like the rest of us, decided to dress up whilst in isolation treating us to a little montage of some of her best #stayhome looks and inspiring us all the same.
While dressing up will always be a powerful tool, it is particularly profound and ineed needed during these dark times, and Lauria Harrier proves this.
