Kylie Jenner has always been open about her insecurities regarding her lips – but now she’s setting the record straight about common a “misconception” around her cosmetic enhancements.

“I think a big misconception about me is that I’ve had so much surgery on my face and that I was some insecure person, and I really wasn’t,” Jenner told HommeGirls.  “Yeah, I love full lips and wanted full lips, but growing up I was always the most confident person in the room. I was the girl performing for everyone. I had my one lip insecurity thing, so I got lip filler, and it was the best thing I’ve ever done. I don’t regret it. But I always thought I was cute.”

The star has gone back-and-forth with her journey with lip filler. Jenner first admitted to getting injections in a 2015 episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. “I have temporary lip fillers. It’s just an insecurity of mine and it’s what I wanted to do,” she shared on the show. In 2018, Jenner announced on social media that she had them removed, before saying in an interview that she got them again a year later.

Jenner was just 9 years old when Keeping Up with the Kardashians first premiered, and throughout the series and life in the public eye, the reality television royalty has often spoken about how her lips were a source of insecurity in her early teens and inspired her to build her lip-kit empire, Kylie Cosmetics.

In her new interview, she cites makeup as a passion in life. “That’s where it all started. It’s what keeps me going every day, being creative on Kylie Cosmetics,” Jenner said. “I started my brand when I was 17. I’ve grown so much, I have such a different vision for what I want it to be. I used to do a lot of limited-edition collections which are so fun, but my goal is to continue to elevate and extend the core line. This year and beyond we’re looking to do things we’ve never done before. You know, skin and eyes and mascara and all the essentials that you need. I’m just like, rebranding.”

As far as her approach to beauty is concerned, Jenner says her mentality has shifted since becoming a mother to her daughter, Stormi Webster, 5, and son Aire, 1, whom she shares with rapper Travis Scott. “It’s made me love myself more,” she said. “I see my features in my daughter and my son now, but you know, my daughter looks like me. I get to see my beauty in her, and it’s made me love myself more for sure. Beauty is always changing for me.”

She then shared a sweet and valuable piece of beauty advise for Stormi. “She’s perfect the way that she is,” said Jenner. “Be confident, always be confident in yourself.”
