Kim Kardashian and North West’s TikTok debut wasn’t the only surprising social media activity to come out of the Kardashian clan this past weekend. In a very unexpected move, Kardashian’s ex-husband Kanye West popped up on Instagram stories, too. West wasn’t there to share anything about his ongoing Sunday Service, nor his new album, nor his clothing line. Instead, he wanted to share his belief that he and Kardashian will get back together with his 9.5 million followers. Yes, the Kardashian who has been galavanting around with Pete Davidson of late.
Even more surprisingly, West’s post wasn’t quite as straightforward as a simple public message to Kardashian via the internet. The rapper instead shared a TMZ article which included a black and white photo of the exes kissing and then he went on to tag both the outlet and Kardashian.
The post came just a few days after West made a public speech about his plans to keep his family together and “change the narrative” around his marriage and a few weeks after he went on a podcast declaring he’d never seen divorce papers (he has— they’ve even settled their assets).
But according to a source close to Kardashian, these public pleas have made no difference to divorce proceedings. “Make no mistake about it, Kim is not getting back together with Kanye. Kim has not given Kanye any indication whatsoever that she wants to work it out,” the source told Hollywood Life. “Kim already told Kanye that their marriage was done months ago when she filed for divorce.”
Kardashian filed for divorce from West in February after nearly seven years of marriage and following months of rumours about the state of the high-profile relationship. Since then, she and West have been co-parenting their four children, North (8), Saint (5), Chicago (3) and Psalm (2). “Her and Kanye even amicably divided most of their assets, including their house,” the insider added. “Kanye was even satisfied with the co-parenting situation that they had worked out.”
Now, as you most definitely know, Kardashian has entered into a new relationship with SNL comedian and BDE founder Pete Davidson, which, naturally, West isn’t thrilled about. “It wasn’t until Kanye saw that Kim was moving on that he decided that he and Kim were going to work things out, but it is too late for that and it is not how this works,” says the source.
“Kanye is extra bothered because she is hanging out with Pete because he had some beef with Pete from when he went on SNL wearing his MAGA hat and this is known. So, the fact that Kim started to hang out with Pete bothered Kanye in general and now that he sees she is really enjoying being around him.”
Looks like this is a case of the old ‘you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone’ situation. Sorry, Ye.
