Hundreds of close family, friends and collaborators gathered in Miami overnight to farewell design visionary Virgil Abloh and witness his final collection for Louis Vuitton. Among the VIP guests was estranged couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West who reunited to sit front row with their eldest daughter, North.

As seen in a livestream of the event, models weaved in and out of trees in Spring/Summer 2022 looks. In what is normally a highly-anticipated and buzzy occasion felt far more somber. Kardashian published a number of videos and images to social media. A giant colored statue of Abloh towered over the runway while lights could be seen in sky with the phrase “Virgil was here”.

One eagled-eye fan also noticed that North was also wearing a printed t-shirt that her father wore in 2012.

Following the news of Abloh’s tragic passing, Kardashian paid tribute to the designer on Instagram accompanied by a rolodex of early pictures of the Off-White founder.

“God doesn’t make mistakes. I know that but I still can’t help but ask why. Why Virgil?! Why him so soon? it’s simply hard to understand why,” she wrote in the caption. “I have a hard time understanding why so many pure souls were taken away so early. Virgil – you were always so gentle, kind and calm. You somehow made time for everyone. We also talked about your superpower of calmness often.

The Skims founder continued, “You always gave so much of yourself to the world because you wanted it to be doper. This one is hard to process. I can’t even believe I am writing this… We will miss you so much Virgil and love you so much. Also I would love to send so much love to his wife Shannon. Because you loved and supported Virgil the way that you did, he was able to give so much of himself everyone else. So thank you truly for sharing him with us the way that you did. Virgil’s legacy will live on forever through Shannon, Lowe and Grey.”

The couple’s reunion (which we can only imagine was little frosty) arrived this week after West embarked on a rant during a Thanksgiving celebration, telling the crowd that God wanted him to repair his relationship with the reality star.
