There’s been quite the rumors regarding Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s relationship status since the DONDA Balenciaga wedding dress event that occurred earlier this month. While nothing official has yet been confirmed, the ex-couple were spotted leaving Nobu in Malibu on Thursday night. Now, given the turbulence of West’s very public feelings towards the divorce, this spotting strikes as odd. But could they just be trying to remain friends?

Kardashian was seen wearing a skin-tight purple catsuit and a brown leather trenchcoat, perfectly appropriate for a dinner at Nobu, while Kanye was dressed in a casual, all-black combination of a t-shirt and jeans. Alongside a group of friends, the couple walked together out of the restaurant and proceeded to get in the same car together, confirming that they officially left side-by-side.

This comes after there were untrue rumors that Kardashian and singer Maluma were romantically involved, but that has since been squashed by Maluma himself.

‘I don’t know why they started asking her that. Maybe because she was getting her divorce and everything, you know?’ Maluma said. “‘But no, [Kim and I] are good friends, we don’t talk that often, but yeah, we are good friends and we always wish the best for each other.’

So, what’s the deal here? After a couple instances of Kardashian mimicking West’s recent DONDA style, usually in all black latex and BDSM-esque couture, people theorize that she’s involved with West in some way. And more recently, Kardashian changed her Instagram profile picture to an all-black circle, much like West. In fact, all the people who West follows on Twitter have the same black circle as a profile picture. Dare we say a little culty?

A source close to Kardashian did report to  TMZ, that the ex-couple are “working on rebuilding the foundation of their relationship,” but nothing since then has come out.

So for now, it’s all just theory, and nobody has any concrete evidence that the two are trying to work anything out, and could just be remaining friends and continuing to co-parent their four kids. But wouldn’t a Kimye revival be the shock of the century?
