Kim Cattrall reunited with some Sex and the City OGs at Variety’s 2022 “Power of Women” event on Thursday. She was joined by the show’s costume designer Patricia Field, author of the book Sex and the City, of which the show is based, Candace Bushnell, and the show’s creator and producer, Darren Star.
Cattrall, 65, who was honored at the event for her work with The Actors Fund, recently spoke with Variety earlier this week. During the interview, she reaffirmed that she would not reprise her role as the beloved Samantha Jones in the Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That.
“That feels different than the Samantha that I played,” Cattrall said. “A world that I know so much about that now I don’t.”
Star has no involvement with the reboot either (in fact, neither does Field or Bushnell), but he is producing Emily in Paris on Netflix and working alongside Field once again, who’s the show’s costume designer.
Field worked on all six seasons of Sex and the City (as well as the two films) but did not return for the reboot. She graciously passed the baton on to colleague and friend Molly Rogers, who served as Field’s right hand throughout the series.

In an interview with People, Cattrall spoke about the unexpected SATC reunion saying, “It meant absolutely everything. We spent over 25 years of our lives together.”
Cattrall and Field have remained friends through the years, often appearing on one another’s Instagram accounts. At the Variety event, the quad posed for photos and even took a selfie on Bushnell’s phone.

Cattrall is currently starring in the How I Met Your Mother reboot, How I Met Your Father on Hulu and Peacock’s Queer as Folk series.
She will also be appearing in the upcoming comedy film About My Father, Cattrall will star alongside Hollywood heavyweight Robert De Niro.
