This weekend, the UK (and the British royal family) are celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, marking her 70 years on the throne. Proceedings kicked off on Thursday when the royals attended Trooping the Colour, the annual event wherein the family stands on a balcony and watches planes fly overhead. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, and their three children, stood alongside the Queen, but notably absent were the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who attended the last Trooping the Colour in 2019, prior to the pandemic and their decision to move to the USA.

The couple weren’t missing from the action due to their new location of California: they’re actually in London visiting the UK to celebrate alongside the family, bringing their two children with them to mark their first family trip to the country — and the first official reunion with the royals since reports of a rift began circulating over two years ago. Rather, the Queen announced ahead of time that only senior working members would be invited to stand alongside her on the balcony, cutting out both the Sussexes and her son, Prince Andrew, who was stripped of his royal duties due to his affiliation with Jeffrey Epstein.

On Friday, however, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were invited to attend mass at St. Paul’s cathedral, alongside Prince William and Kate Middleton and other members of the family. Buckingham Palace announced in a statement yesterday that the Queen would not be attending mass due to discomfort at yesterday’s event.

For the occasion, Kate Middleton chose a pale yellow dress by one of her favorite British designers, Emilia Wickstead, which she paired with a matching hat in the same lemon shade. She accessorized the gorgeous outfit with a pair of suede pumps and a pale clutch and held gloves in her hand.

Middleton pulled her hair back into an intricate bun and wore a pair of diamond drop earrings. She also donned pink lipgloss, giving the look a fresh feel.

Her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, meanwhile wore a chic white trench coat, organza shirt and skirt from Dior Haute Couture, which she paired with matching white pumps and a white Dior hat designed by Stephen Jones. You can see more photos of Markle and Prince Harry’s arrival to the church here.

Here’s hoping we see the two sisters interact soon.
