Kate Middleton has made her first solo excursion since 2017 into a sartorial tour de force throughout Denmark. Donning her signature mix of high and low dressing, the Duchess of Cambridge paired fast fashion finds with classical royal preferences amid her two-day stint in Copenhagen, where she contributed to the Royal Foundation Center for Early Childhood and honored Queen Elizabeth’s 70th jubilee.

Known for her penchant for practicality, Middleton’s fondness for recycling outfits has becoming an endearing quality to the royal’s style evolution. This time, she reached for a fire engine red Zara blazer (she’s sported quite a few iterations from the brand in blue, cobalt and red over the years). Middleton paired the already sold out piece with a crisp white ruffle trim blouse (thought to be a nod to Denmark’s red and white national flag), black slacks, simple black pumps, with her Aspinal of London handbag in tow. She also accessorized with a fitting nod to the country, with pearl drop earrings from Copenhagen-based designer Maria Black.

The next day, in a look incredibly similar to one of Princess Diana‘s from 1987, Middleton sported a classic charcoal Catherine Walker coat for a visit with Denmark’s Princess Mary. Catherine Walker, the British fashion label famously adored by the late Princess of Wales, has often designed Middleton’s regal outerwear. Pairing the slim-fitting, timeless design with Gianvito Rossi pumps and her Mulberry Amberley handbag, her perfectly coifed curls and pearls set the royal tone.

Closing out her trip with a visit to a Danish Forest Kindergarten, Middleton opted for yet another budget-friendly brand, H&M, wearing a cream-colored ribbed turtleneck sweater by the fast-fashion label, Middleton paired the knit with dark-wash skinny jeans, brown leather booties, and a forest green jacket.

Subverting opulent royal expectations while remaining incredibly chic, check out Middleton’s triad of practical, and stylishly professional ensembles, below.
