Dawson’s Creek star Joshua Jackson has revealed that he never actually proposed to his wife Jodie Turner-Smith – because it was she who popped the question. We love a Queen who knows what she wants!

The pair confirmed in December 2019 that they were married, and now Joshua has shared details of the day Jodie asked for his hand in marriage.

“She asked me, yeah, on New Year’s Eve. We were in Nicaragua. It was very beautiful, incredibly romantic,” he shared while on The Jimmy Fallon Show. “We were walking down the beach, and she asked me to marry her.”

He went on to share that “there was like a preamble,” but that he did not know the proposal was coming.
He then joked that “she was quite adamant, and she was right,” and added: “This is the best choice I ever made.”

Josh previously dated his Dawson’s Creek co-star Katie Holmes and then dated Diane Kruger for ten years before they split. He wed the Queen & Slim actress in 2019 and in April 2020 they welcomed a baby girl, Janie.

Joshua will next be seen in the Peacock drama Dr. Death, based on the true story of Dr. Christopher Duntsch, a Texan doctor whose patients were left disabled or dead after he operated on them. He was sentenced to life in prison in 2017 after maiming and even killing almost all of the nearly 40 patients he operated on between 2011 and 2013.

Speaking of his experience filming the show, he praised Jodie and their daughter for grounding him.

“I think honestly, having my family there with me was fantastic, because to go home, kiss my wife, hold the baby and not be a truly, truly horrendous human being when I got home at night was a great tonic,” he said.
