It was only last month when 24-year-old actress, Joey King, proved how quickly time flies by joining Taylor Swift on stage 13 years after she appeared in the singer’s music video for ‘Mean’.
Now, the former child star has married her “best friend”, director Steven Piet.
King and Piet tied the knot on Saturday, September 2nd in a ceremony in the Balearic island of Mallorca. According to a source with knowledge of the nuptials, the couple was “surrounded by their closest family and friends” for their Spanish wedding.
Piet and King’s balmy ceremony took place just shy of 18 months after their surprise engagement on February 2nd, 2022.
The 32-year-old director proposed to the actress in the American desert after a reported three years of dating.
“I never knew happiness could be so powerful that it can take the air from your lungs, overwhelming every part of you that you can’t help but feel your eyes well from the undeniable joy,” King wrote in the Instagram caption announcing her engagement.
“I never knew that a person’s presence and heart could feel like a real home,” she added. “I never knew love could be so unquestionably beautiful. I never knew until you. The date was 2/2/22 when you asked me to marry you and made me the luckiest lady alive,” she continued.
“I love you more than an Instagram caption could ever do justice. Hanging out with you forever sounds like a real dream, so let’s do it.”
Piet also remarked on the momentous occasion with an Instagram post of his own, writing “The weather was less than perfect. Cold. Windy. Perfectly imperfect to ask my best friend to spend a lifetime together.”
Piet and King first connected on the set of her limited series The Act. King played a leading role as Gypsy Rose Blanchard, a 34-year-old convicted of second-degree murder for killing her abusive mother Dee Dee (played by Patricia Arquette in the television adaption). Piet directed two of the eight-episode series.
Ahead of their European wedding, King had celebrated her Bachelorette party in Napa Valley in Northern California. The pair had also recently shared some images of their pre-wedding holiday, including some images posted from their time in Portugal just before the wedding.
