May 25, 2021: No matter how many times you roll your eyes at being told to wear sunscreen daily, it’s a must. The latest authority to reinforce the daily habit (besides your dermatologist, mother, and skincare-obsessed friends) is the actual President of the United States of America, Mr. Joe Biden. He’s officially gone on record saying he, too, uses and requires sunscreen.
In an interview with beauty influencer MannyMUA for his YouTube channel on May 24, 2021, President Biden and Dr. Anthony Fauci chatted about the pandemic and debunked myths about the COVID-19 vaccine. Towards the end of their conversation, Manny proposed a question to Biden that he wasn’t quite prepared for: “If you were to be stranded on a desert island, and you had to bring one skincare product that you might really love, what would it be?”
Biden first pointed out he expected the question to be about a person he would bring along with him to the desert island (a no-brainer for him, he picked his wife, Dr. Jill Biden) but he swiftly and cooly clued us into what he needs for his skin. “I happen to be Irish, so I think my wife, before I headed to that island, would tell me that ‘You’d better bring some sunscreen.’ I think that’s the one product I would bring,” he said. Dr. Jill Biden, saving the children of America through education, but also saving her husband’s skin.
