If the adaption of Sally Rooney’s Normal People is anything to go by, then the Hulu and BBC Three instalment of Conversations with Friends is going to be just as good, if not, better. While filming commenced a few months ago on the highly-anticipated series, Taylor Swift’s beau Joe Alwyn has shared a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming drama.

On Instagram, Alwyn posed alongside his costars Sasha Lane and Alison Oliver covering their bodies with white towels. Captioned “cwf”, the post also features a rolodex of happy snaps including plane selfies, productions trailers, oh, and a very buff Alwyn (see slide seven).

The forthcoming 12-part series, to be streamed on Hulu, is based off of Rooney’s 2017 debut novel. The storyline follows two Irish college students who spark an unlikely sexual relationship with an older couple where complicated love triangles ensue.

Up-and-coming actress Alison Oliver will star as the lead character, Frances, while Sasha Lane who is known for her appearance in American Honey will play Bobbi. Alwyn will star as Nick and Jemima Kirke is set to play Melissa.

In a statement (per BBC) when the adaptation was announced in February 2020, Rooney said, “I’m confident we’re going to find fresh and interesting ways of dramatizing the novel’s dynamics, and I’m excited to watch the process take shape‎.”

It comes off the back of Hulu’s TV adaption, Normal People which was released in April 2020. Starring newcomers Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones, their careers were shot to stardom after the series was nominated for a slew of awards including a Golden Globe for Best Limited Series or Television Film.

It also seemingly sparked the renewed trend of silver chains on men – thank you, Paul Mescal.
