Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck appear to have put the are-they-aren’t-they speculation to bed with a shared kiss during a workout. How romantic!
The pair, who helped coin the portmanteau of couple names with Bennifer, have been rumored to be back together for several weeks now, having been spotted at various LA hotels. Now, they’ve taken their romance to Miami, where sources alleged that they were seen sharing “a kiss between sets” at the gym.
Calling the display “the honeymoon phase,” the source added: “They went to do their workouts with separate trainers, but were not trying to hide their relationship by any means.” The two were seen “hugging” and “being playful together,” and the insider claimed that it was “clear to everyone that they have intense chemistry and were having fun together.”
Lopez and Affleck began dating after meeting on the set of the 2002 film, Gigli. By November, the couple were engaged and due to be married the following year in September. While the wedding was ultimately canceled due to excessive media attention, Affleck then called off the engagement in January 2004.
Their rekindled romance came about after Jen split from fiancé Alex Rodriguez, but it’s clear the pair have always stayed close. In January 2021, the 48-year-old looked back at his very public split from the artist and admitted a lot of the attention was very negative and undeserved.
“People were so f***ing mean about her — sexist, racist,” Affleck told The Hollywood Reporter. “Ugly, vicious sh*t was written about her in ways that if you wrote it now you would literally be fired for saying those things you said. Now it’s like, she’s lionized and respected for the work she did, where she came from, what she accomplished — as well she f***ing should be!”
