Jessie Ware-Disco
Jessie Ware by Carlijn Jacobs

And the category is Disco Diva! Over the past year, disco has seen somewhat of a musical revival. Artists like Dua Lipa, Victoria Monét, and of course, Kylie Minogue have put disco back on the map — well the pop, commercial map, that is because disco is a part of the framework of House music (which is still very much alive and well) —channeling their inner Grace Jones at Studio 54. One of the leaders of last year’s disco revival was British pop-soul singer, Jessie Ware. Her 2020 album, What’s Your Pleasure was a conceptual album, full of disco-era sonic inspirations. Even the album art itself took cues from iconic 70’s era, Andy Warhol polaroids of style icons Diana Ross and Bianca Jagger. In a year of standstill, Ware provided a dance floor soundtrack to ignite the spirit of connecting once again. Following last years’ album, Ware is releasing a Platinum Pleasure Edition, an extended version of the record with additional singles.

Now she’s back once again with another disco inspired track, Hot N Heavy produced by SG Lewis. Ware took to her instagram today to announce the new track. This single is the lastest taste — following series of singles — of what fans can expect from the deluxe, extended edition which will available for purchase and streaming June 11.

“Hot N Heavy” brings to mind the sonics of Disco-era titans Rose Royce, Donna Summer and Madleen Kane. It makes you want to throw on that slinky Laquan Smith dress and dance the night away. Get into the Visual teaser below:

And while you’re at it, check out her recent performance, complete with the cutest baby bump, of “What’s Your Pleasure” Platinum edition single, “Please” live on the BBC, ‘The One show” below:
