For her Las Vegas wedding to Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez (now Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck!) had just the thing for her “something old,” in fact, she’s been saving it for her big day for years. The singer revealed the couple’s wedding news on her blog, On the JLo, where she detailed their fairytale July 16 Las Vegas wedding, including the outfits they each pulled straight from their closets.
In photos shared on her blog, she wore two different wedding gowns for the occasion. The first, was a sleeveless A-line white dress from “an old movie.”
“I’ve had this dress for so many years, and I’ve just been saving it, and saving it, and saving it, and now I’m wearing it on my wedding day,” she said in a video shared on her website. She styled her hair half up, with voluminous, classic waves, accessorized with a simple chain necklace and carried a top-handle white bag to head to the chapel. (Eagle eye fans may spot a sweet photo on her vanity of Affleck, which appears to be a pic of the couple from when they first dated in the early 2000s and a photo from the Venice Film Festival in 2021.)
In other photos, Lopez switched into a different bridal look, wearing an off-the-shoulder long-sleeve white lace wedding dress from Zuhair Murad’s Bridal Spring Summer 2023 Collection with a sweetheart-style neckline, corset bodice and fishtail train, and completed the look with a matching lace-trimmed veil.
Her quick change moment actually happened at the wedding, and she thanked the Little White Wedding chapel for letting her “use the break room to change while Ben changed in the men’s room.”
For his part, Affleck wore a white jacket from his closet, and even shared some a changing room selfie video as he got ready to walk down the aisle.
“We barely made it to the little white wedding chapel by midnight,” Lopez wrote. “They graciously stayed open late a few minutes, let us take pictures in a pink Cadillac convertible, evidently once used by the king himself (but if we wanted Elvis himself to show, that cost extra and he was in bed).”
She continued, “But in the end it was the best possible wedding we could have imagined. One we dreamed of long ago and one made real (in the eyes of the state, Las Vegas, a pink convertible and one another) at very, very long last.”
After getting engaged (for the second time) in April 2022, the two wasted no time making things official. Lopez and Affleck were previously engaged in 2002 and were set to wed in September 2003, before postponing their nuptials. They later ended their engagement in January 2004, but remained friends through the years. The two sent the internet spiraling in July 2021 when they went Instagram official in a series of photos commemorating the singer’s 52nd birthday on board a yacht.
As for married life? Lopez certainly has that just-wed glow. She shared a photo of herself in bed with her new silver wedding band on display, looking happy, glowy and in newlywed bliss.
