Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are officially, once again, engaged! The superstar singer shared the news in her On the JLo newsletter over the weekend. After Affleck popped the question with a 6.1-carat Harry Winston pink diamond back in 2002, Affleck chose another colorful diamond this time around.
Affleck proposed with a green engagement ring, symbolizing “luck,” according to Lopez, who has talked about green being her lucky color.
Lopez has been proposed to six different times, and although only three of the six engagements ended in marriage, the engagement rings that came out of these relationships have caused quite a stir over the years. From Affleck to ex-husband Marc Anthony, you can almost chronicle JLo’s time in the public eye by which era of engagement ring she was sporting.
We decided to create a comprehensive and chronological list of JLo’s rings, as she adds a sixth stunner to her collection.
Ojani Noa (1997-1998)
Her first serious relationship in the public eye, and subsequently first marriage, Noa and Lopez met in 1997 when Noa was working as a waiter in Gloria Estefan’s restaurant. The couple married on February 22, 1997 but divorced shortly after in January 1998.
The ring he gave her was a $100,000 pear-shaped diamond with a gold band. Paling in comparison to other, more wildly expensive rings she would receive in coming years, this would be a precursor to JLo’s on and off engagements.
Chris Judd (2001-2002)
Judd and JLo met in 2001 when he was featured as a backup dancer in her “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” music video. They fell in love immediately and Judd popped the question, leading Lopez to walk down the aisle for the second time.
Not many details are known about this particular ring, but what we do know is it was an emerald-cut ring reportedly worth six figures.
Ben Affleck (2002-2004)
Perhaps the most famous, adored and influential of all JLo’s engagements, she met Affleck on the set of their movie Gigli in 2001. The couple’s off-screen chemistry was strong, and it led to their engagement in 2002, coined “Bennifer” by news outlets and fans. Unfortunately, a day before their wedding was supposed to take place in 2004, the couple released an announcement that the ceremony was postponed and ultimately, called off. Earlier in 2021, the couple reunited, walking carpets and making memorable appearances together as a couple.
The famed Harry Winston ring that Affleck gave JLo set a trend for colored diamonds. The 6.10 carat pink diamond was reportedly worth $1.2 million, and has been said to have increased dramatically in price since. But the question remains, where is it? JLo’s former publicist claimed she never gave it back to Affleck after the engagement was called off, but it’s yet to be seen.
Marc Anthony (2004-2011)
The couple reportedly first met in 1998 backstage at singer Paul Simon’s Broadway show, The Capeman. Before Affleck came around, Anthony and JLo reportedly dated, split, then reunited. They made it official in 2004 when Anthony proposed, and then preceded to marry her until it ended in a divorce in 2011. Anthony and JLo share two children, twins Emme Maribel Muñiz and Maximilian David Muñiz, who were born on February 22, 2008.
With this engagement, JLo got her second Harry Winston ring. The 8.5 carat emerald-cut stone beat out Affleck’s 6.10, and its estimated cost was about $4 million.
Alex Rodriguez (2017-2021)
Lopez and Rodriguez met in 2005 after attending a friendly baseball game (along with Marc Anthony) at Shea Stadium in Queens, New York. The couple started dating in 2017, then two years later became engaged in 2019 until 2021.
Her largest ring yet, the enormous 15-carat emerald cut diamond dominated photos during their engagement period. While the jeweler is unknown, top jewelry experts value the ring at approximately $1 million to $3 million.
Ben Affleck (2021-Present)
With the excitement of Bennifer‘s rekindled romance, reports of Affleck looking at rings reached headlines ever since the couple got back together in 2021. Lopez finally shared the happy engagement news on her blog, On the JLo, where she flashed her gigantic green sparkler. Marking J.Lo’s sixth engagement, Bennifer 2.0 has the whole world rooting for them.
