The irony was not lost on Amy Schumer who published a photo with Jennifer Lawrence at the Rally for Abortion Justice in Washington, D.C., on Saturday. “I don’t have a uterus and she is pregnant but we out here @womensmarch @plannedparenthood #rallyforabortionjustice 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼,” the actress and comedian wrote.

Descending onto Freedom Plaza in the country’s capital city, the famous duo marched amongst thousands. Schumer held a sign that read, “Abortion is essential” while Lawrence raised a hand-written sign that read, “Women can’t be free if they don’t control their bodies”.

According to Reuters, over 650 marches were held across the United States on Saturday. The protests were held in wake of a US Supreme Court case from a Mississippi lawmaker that could enable them to overturn abortion rights established in the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade case. Essentially, if passed, abortion access would no longer be protected by the Constitution, leaving states free to ban it, limit it or allow it without restrictions.

Last month a Texas law was passed that allows citizens to sue anyone involved in an abortion. There are no exceptions made for rape or incest and even Uber drivers can be convicted for simply driving a woman to the procedure. The reward is $10,000 USD.

The Women’s March marks one of the few sightings we have seen of the Hunger Games actress after she confirmed her pregnancy last month. The star’s pregnancy style included a checked slip dress, combat boots, a denim jacket and rose-tinted sunglasses.

In September Schumer revealed she had her uterus removed due to crippling endometriosis. In a video published to social media, the 40-year-old explained the process: “So, it’s the morning after my surgery for endometriosis and my uterus is out. The doctor found 30 spots of endometriosis that he removed. He removed my appendix because the endometriosis had attacked it.”
