I’ve been following Jasmine Tookes on social media for as long as I can remember. Like many, I was first introduced to the American model via the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in the mid-2010s, strutting her highly coveted angel wings on the catwalk. But through the years, her four million-plus social media followers and I have come to know her more deeply. Besides looking damn good in lingerie, the 30-year-old is the co-founder of the fitness platform JOJA, a lifestyle vlogger, and an avid beauty product-reviewer.
These days, Tookes has stayed busy working on JOJA and modeling for brands from home (a process that’s becoming the new normal for talent amid the coronavirus pandemic). But another one of her recent projects has been testing Hourglass Cosmetics’ highly anticipated skincare collection debut to accompany the nighttime serum and lightweight SPF the brand launched half a decade ago. Entitled Equilibrium Skincare, the inaugural line includes three core products: rebalancing cream cleanser, restoring essence, and hydrating eye balm.
Ahead, Tookes walks GRAZIA through her day, starting with the very moment her alarm clock rings to the moment her head hits the pillow at the end of a long day.
What time do you wake up on an average day, and what’s
the first thing you do?
Well, I usually wake up at around 8 am, but I just adopted a puppy
so lately my dog alarm has been going off at 6 am! Once I am up,
I’m up, so mornings have been looking a lot different for me. It’s
still dark outside! The first thing I do is have a glass of water
to jump-start my day. I am not always the best with drinking water
so I find if I keep a glass near my bed for the morning it’s way
easier to get that first glass in.
Can you walk us through your morning skincare
routine?
I’ve really learned that the routine and order in which I apply my
products is such a game-changer in getting healthy, glowy skin.
I’ve been incorporating Hourglass’s new Equilibrium skincare
collection for over a month and I’ve really seen the difference. To
start, I take a towel and soak it in hot water. I then just hold
the towel on my face, warming up my skin before I start my routine.
I wash my face with the Equilibrium Rebalancing Cream Cleanser. The
texture is rich and creamy and I love that it leaves my skin
feeling clean and plump, and not stripped. I follow that with the
Equilibrium Restoring Essence, which is the perfect primer because
it’s so soothing and conditioning. It’s particularly great if I’m
on-the-go and need an extra boost of hydration. For my moisturizer,
depending on how my skin is feeling that day I will either use
Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream or Kora Organics Noni Face Oil.
Normal morning makeup and hair routine?
On days where I’m not working, I like to wear nothing to just let
my skin & hair just be natural. I go through my skin routine and
like to keep it really fresh! If I am working or have to be on a
video meeting, I will usually just apply a concealer, a bit of
powder & throw my hair in a ballerina bun.

It’s time to eat breakfast! What are you
eating?
I’m not the biggest breakfast person but lately, I have really been
enjoying a smoothie from Gwenyth Paltrow’s cookbook. It’s called
the Body Builder Smoothie, filled with protein and daily greens.
It’s so delicious and gives me enough fuel to get my morning
workout done.
How long does it usually take you to get dressed in the
am? Walk us through the process.
My day-to-day outfits are pretty simple. If I’m home all day, I’ll
throw on a cute, cozy set of sweats, a workout outfit, or a pair of
boyfriend jeans with a T-shirt. I also love to wear all neutrals
so, no matter how tired I am, anything I grab from my closet tends
to match.
Your favorite wardrobe essential right now?
I always think a good blazer is essential. It can really put
together the simplest of outfits.
Any other morning rituals that are important to
you?
I think it’s very important to start your day with a positive
outlook. I make sure to remember that every morning and tell myself
something uplifting like, “Today is going to be a beautiful
day”’
Is there such a thing as an “average” day in your life?
If so, what are you doing? If no, can you touch on what you’ve been
up to these days?
An average day in my life starts with waking up, completing my
skincare routine, working out & taking care of my dogs. From there
I go into work mode and that consists of checking emails and
working on JOJA, which is a lifestyle fitness brand that I and my
co-founder Josephine Skriver have been
working on. When I am not working on that I am working usually on
content for myself. With these new times, a lot of the brands I
often work with have been doing home shoots. It’s been fun getting
to be creative at home and being a model has a whole new
meaning.

Your go-to handbag of the moment?
My fiancé just bought me the most beautiful Hermès Birkin for my 30th
birthday. It’s tan which fits me perfectly with a unique yellow
detailing on the side. I have wanted a Birkin since I can remember
so I will definitely cherish this one.
Any nightly wind-down routines?
I love to wind down by watching anything funny, whether that be
reality TV or scrolling through hilarious TikTok videos. I love
getting my mind off of any craziness that may have happened
throughout the day.
Favorite dinner recipe of the moment?
My fiancé and I never used to cook before COVID-19 but we have
definitely picked up some skills over the last nine months. Our
favorite meal is a delicious steak with a fresh green salad and
couscous as a side.
Can you walk us through your nighttime skincare
routine?
Outside of the Equilibrium Cleanser and Restoring Essence, which I
use day and night, I’m literally obsessed with the Equilibrium
Intensive Hydrating Eye Balm. It immediately plumps and refreshes
the undereye area and is so soothing. It’s become my new secret
weapon for faking a good night’s sleep. I even use it during the
day sometimes if I’m traveling or have been extra busy with work
and my skin just needs ultra hydration. I also am totally obsessed
with LED light therapy. I have been using the Dr. Dennis Gross’s
face mask before applying any of my nightly products. It helps with
fine lines and also hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone. Twice a
week, I also like to use Georgia Louise’s at-home Hollywood EGF
micro-needling device. It is great for helping the products really
sink into the skin, as well as stimulate new collagen. As for
moisturizer serums, I usually apply Kora Organics Vitamin C Serum
and Decorte Moisture Liposome Serum.
What time do you usually go to sleep? Any products that
help you catch your zzz’s?
I am such a night owl! I usually fall asleep anywhere between 12-2
am. Now, with the new puppy, I am in bed by 9. She exhausts me!
