Unless you’ve been living under a rock this past weekend, you would know that all the internet has been talking about is Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal—and a missing scarf (more on that later). When headlines featuring the two celebrities’ names first popped up, many were confused: didn’t they date… like over a decade ago? Correct. But as part of reclaiming ownership over her back catalogue, Swift is rereleasing all of her old albums, dropping her 2012 album Red over the weekend with the addition of a 10-minute version of her single, ‘All Too Well’.

At the time of its original release nine years ago, ‘All Too Well’ was widely rumored to be about Swift’s three-month relationship with Gyllenhaal which began in October 2010, when Swift was 20. The song’s extended version—and the 14-minute short film that was dropped alongside it—not only confirmed the rumors, but gave Swifties further insight into the romance, prompting Gyllenhaal’s name to trend online all weekend and likely petrifying Swift’s other famous exes. John Mayer, you’re next.

In reference to Swift’s line in the song where she says she left her scarf at Gyllenhaal’s sister Maggie’s place over Thanksgiving and he kept it to this day, fans began commenting scarf emojis all over Gyllenhaal’s Instagram page, before starting an online hunt to track the garment down via Reddit and @DeuxMoi. After a commenter wrote into the Instagram gossip site alleging they know where the real scarf is—and that they have proof—another follower spilled some Gyllenhaal and Swift related tea: the actor is apparently a fan of his exes’ music.

“I have a Jake Gyllenhaal Story,” the anonymous Instagram user wrote. “Feels like the right time.”

“A few years ago, I was an intern at his production company in NYC,” they continued. “We worked out of his old apartment that he converted into offices. One day he was playing music on the speakers from his office and after a few songs he started playing Taylor Swift.”

“Not just one song,” they added. “A bunch of songs back to back.”

The person went on to say that Gyllenhaal eventually came out of his office “and manically said, ‘Nothing like some Taylor Swift to lighten the mood!’”
