Last week came the news that Emily Ratajkowski filed for divorce from her husband of three years, Sebastian Bear-McClard, following reports that Bear-McClard cheated on the 31-year-old model. Now, there’s another model going her separate ways from her husband. Hilary Rhoda reportedly filed for divorce from ex-NHL star Sean Avery after seven years of marriage.

TMZ announced that the 35-year-old model filed court documents in Los Angeles this week citing “irreconcilable differences.” The outlet reported that the two split on July 17 and that the model is seeking physical custody of their son, but sharing legal custody.

The two welcomed their 2-year-old son, Nash Hollis Avery, in 2020, after struggling with conceiving. After announcing their pregnancy news, Rhoda wrote in an Instagram Story how hard the journey was for the couple. “The last year has been quite a journey getting to this point, lots of ups & downs … but for those trying to conceive, all I can say is just keep going.” She added, “Trying to conceive is a mindf— and might have almost ended our marriage once or twice.”

The pair first started dating in 2010, got engaged in November 2013 and married in October 2015. Rhoda has starred in various fashion campaigns for brands including Ralph Lauren, Givenchy, Gucci and many, many more. She has also modeled in the Victoria’s Secret fashion show and for the pages of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue three years in a row from 2009-2011.

Avery had a 12-year-career in the NHL playing for the Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, Dallas Stars and New York Rangers, gaining a reputation for his agitating playing style and penalty minutes gained. (A new penalty rule in the NHL was nicknamed The Avery Rule after he initiated the unsportsmanlike conduct.) He made headlines in 2008 when he spent the summer interning for Vogue, and editing Mensvogue.com. He later modeled for brands including Hickey Freeman and 7 For All Mankind.

While Rhoda hasn’t posted recent photos with Avery, the hockey pro did wish the model a happy birthday in April. TMZ was first to report the news.
