Hilary Duff is back in action! The star, who previously starred in Younger, plays Sophie who recalls to her kids how she met their father.

The new Hulu series is a spin-off of How I Met Your Mother, which aired from 2005 to 2014. In addition to Duff, Kim Cattrall plays future Sophie, and Chris Lowell, Francia Raisa, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran and Suraj Sharma also appear in the comedy.

According to the release, the series is “a story that catapults us back to the year 2022, where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.”

In the trailer, Sophie talks to her friends about her failed Tinder dates. “Screw being mature! We can still make bad choices for a few more years!” she exclaims in the clip.

“Today is the first chapter of my next great love story!” she declares later on.

Of course, the Disney Channel alum was thrilled when she first heard about the project. “I mean, the script was so good,” Duff said. “I literally called and I was like, ‘Please, yes, please have them pick me.’ I don’t want to give it all away and the script is definitely being changed a little bit. But it does tie in and, you know, hopefully we’ll have some fun guest appearances from the original cast.”

Ultimately, the series follows Sophie’s group of friends as they navigate dating in New York City.

“There are great characters and I’m going to get to have another on set family, and another TV family,” the actress explained. “And there’s so much opportunity for love stories with this show because it’s Sophie and then, three dudes. So it’s going down that whole rabbit hole of like, well, which one was the one, and who was the father? And you get to go through all of … Sophie’s young experience of finding love and dating and what that’s like in the modern world. So, it does tie in, but I don’t know how much I can say. Nothing’s totally set.”

How I Met Your Father will air on Hulu on January 18.
