Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry has gone on the record claiming she said no to Drake when the Grammy winner asked to use a photo of her as the cover art for his new single “Slime You Out”.
Despite saying no, Drake went ahead and used the photo.
On September 15, Berry posted a quote to her Instagram page which read, “Sometimes you have to be the bigger guy…even if you are a woman.”
One Instagram user asked the 57-year-old’s thoughts on the musician, 36, using her image.
“He didn’t get my permission,” Berry responded. “That’s not cool, I thought better of him… When people you admire disappoint you, you have to be the bigger person and move on.
“It’s about principles and integrity,” she continued. “So happy many of you get that,”
Another user questioned Berry on why she was so upset, citing it was indeed Getty Images who owned the photo. The actress doubled down.
“[I’m upset] cuz he asked me and I said NO, that’s why,” she responded. “Why ask if you intend to do what you want to do! That was the f*ck you to me. Not cool. You get it?”
Drake’s new single “Slime You Out” is his first collaboration with SZA, and the latest and second release from his upcoming LP For All The Dogs. Its lyrics reference lovers making “kid choices” and the image in question is of Berry covered in green slime at the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Drake commissioned his son, five-year-old Adonis, to sketch the album artwork.
For All The Dogs is set to be released on September 22. To be honest, we’re backing Halle Berry on his one. Not cool. Hopefully she’s finding some zen with her DIY at-home facial routine.
