On Friday, December 11, 2020, Taylor Swift surprised fans with her ninth-studio album, Evermore. This headline-making news sent fans wild for numerous reasons, one being that it marks her second album created during the coronavirus pandemic and her first collaboration with the pop-rock girl group, HAIM. Together, they brought the murder mystery song, “No Body, No Crime,” to life, which has since earned a top spot on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
Keeping with the tradition of putting smiles on fans’ faces amid challenging times, HAIM released an expanded edition of their Grammy-nominated album, Women in Music Pt. III, on Thursday, February 18. The tracklist includes a remix of “Gasoline,” featuring Swift, who, in line with the song’s release, tweeted, “Cancel the DNA test I’m the 4th Haim sister and this song is the only proof I need #GasolineRemix.”
To accompany HAIM’s big social media announcement formally welcoming Swift to the family, the trio posted a photo of themselves at a gas station. In the photo, embedded below, the sisters look identical in matching black shirts and short brown wigs that embraces one of the most surprising beauty trends of 2021 thus far: micro bangs. Between their fringe debut and Swift’s signature chop, I’m starting to feel as though fate is telling me to take the plunge, too? Am I alone?
But back to the collab, and what the HAIM sisters have to say about it. “Taylor had always told us that gasoline was her favorite,” the sisters wrote in the accompanying caption. “So when we were thinking about ways to reimagine some of the tracks from the record, we immediately thought of her. she brought such amazing ideas and new imagery to the song and truly gave it a new life. Thank you @taylorswift for adding your incredible voice and spirit to a track that means so much to us.”
