It’s been quite the year for multiple reasons (one look at your social feeds, and you can see why). With the “new variant” case numbers on the rise and countries are starting to reenter restrictions, New Year’s Eve will look a lot different than what we expected a couple of months back when we began planning our festive looks. That being said we aren’t going to let canceled soirees and gathers get us down.
The New Year is about trying new things, like our 2022 trend predictions or that book you’ve been putting off for months now. Whether you’re celebrating with a tight-knit group at home or bringing in the new year with a party of two there’s still much to be celebrated from your accomplishments in 2021 to the road ahead in 2022. If you’re still looking for inspiration look no further than what GRAZIA‘s editors’ will be wearing from the comforts of their homes. And yes it involves some of our favorite trends like metallic mesh and feathers galore.

I’ll be watching the ball drop and ringing in the new year from my living room with my husband, but I’ll be dreaming about these Amina Muaddi pumps.

I’m staying in and planning a chic dinner party at home with the hubby—setting the table (channeling my inner Martha Stewart), popping some champagne, ordering some takeout, putting on a vinyl record, and dancing into the new year. And while I may be staying home, I plan on being cozy-chic. My usual daily aesthetic lands between luxe athleisure and streetwear—hoodies, wide-legged trousers and sweatpants, a beanie, and ALWAYS a sneaker. For NYE, I plan on staying true to that, just with a little razzle-dazzle. These K.NGSLEY earrings add a little flair to my outfit while also sending a powerful statement. They resemble the PrEP pill, pre-exposure prophylaxis, and acknowledge healthcare disparities in terms of HIV/AIDS treatment and lower levels of access to PrEP, particularly for Black and Brown men and women.

I’m staying in. That said, New Year’s Eve is always the perfect excuse to dress up, and right now I’m kind of obsessed with velvet so these Olivia Von Halle PJ’s in plush luxe devoré-velvet tick the box for PFH (party from home) chic and comfy. With their palm frond print and satin mandarin collar, they are too cool to stay behind closed doors forever, so once this is over, I’ll wear them as separates for a much longed-for night out (just add champagne).

I’ll be celebrating casually this year, with only a few close friends, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be dressing up for the occasion (I’ll take any chance I can get). I was able to pick up a black AllSaints Merino cardigan a few years ago, and ever since it’s been one of my go-to pieces for a pseudo-casual/dressed-up outfit. Paired with a pair of black Madewell skinny jeans and a Gucci belt and Horsebit loafers, this outfit isn’t only for my New Year’s Eve celebration, but a good vision into what I wear on a day-to-day basis.

With COVID cases rising in NYC, plans of a massive New Year’s Eve blowout have been replaced with a small gathering of our closest friends. We may have had to sacrifice going out but dressing for the occasion is still a requirement. My mini sequined Free People “Fly Me Away” shift dress is always the perfect party frock. Comfortable and easy, the colorful embellishments are only amplified by the rhinestones on Tony Bianco’s “Skye” sandal.
