Per People, Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez had the chance “to get to know each other in peace” during quarantine before getting engaged this past September, just under a year into dating. The same goes for entrepreneur Carter Reum, who just slipped a diamond on Paris Hilton’s finger last month.
These examples are precisely the reason why I’m not entirely surprised to hear from multiple outlets that Meryl Streep’s daughter Grace Gummer is dating English-American record producer Mark Ronson. Better yet, it sounds like the relationship is already getting quite serious. The pair were last photographed together this past September while they dined with friends at Il Buco in Manhattan. Just Jared notes that they have known each other for at least a year, having sat next to each other at the Chanel Tribeca Film Festival Artist Dinner in April 2019.
In the six months since they dined at the Italian restaurant, sources confirm that their relationship has picked up speed and that they’re navigating long-distance hurdles swimmingly. “He is definitely dating Grace. Things have become romantic,” an insider told The Sun. “Lockdown restrictions have made things more difficult, especially when he has been back in the UK, but they are seeing how it goes and are getting along.”
Gummer and ex-husband Tay Strathairn filed for divorce last April after marrying in secret in July 2019. According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, the couple split just a month later due to irreconcilable differences. They first started dating in 2017, but their friendship can be traced back to 1994 on the set of The River Wild. Ronson and his ex-wife, Joséphine de La Baume, got divorced in 2017 after five years of marriage.
Per The Sun report, Ronson has already met—and assumedly won the approval—of the Mr. Robot alum’s Oscar-winning mom and sculptor husband of over 40 years, Don Gummer. “They seemed to like him, which is a good sign,” the same source told the publication. “It would be daunting for any guy to try to charm Meryl Streep.”
