Unbeknown to the public until now, Paris Hilton spent this past Valentine’s Day celebrating her engagement to her partner of one-year, Carter Reum. In an Instagram post, Hilton revealed Reum, a venture capitalist, had proposed on February 13th while the pair were vacationing on a private island together.
“When you find your soulmate, you don’t just know it. You feel it.” Hilton wrote, alongside two photos showing the pair embracing while wearing matching whites. “My love & I have been together since our first date, and for my birthday, he arranged a special trip to tropical paradise. As we walked to dinner along the beach, Carter led us to a cabana adorned with flowers and dropped to one knee,” she continued.
“I said yes, yes to forever. There’s no one I’d rather spend forever with.”
In an interview following the news, Hilton revealed Reum gave her an emerald-cut ring and her sister, Nicky, and Reum’s brother, Courtney, were both on the trip to celebrate with them. “I am excited about this next chapter and having such a supportive partner,” she said. “Our relationship is one of equals. We make each other better people. He was absolutely worth the wait!”
Reum said, “From our very first date, I was able to get to know the real Paris. As people who have seen her documentary and recent advocacy work know, Paris is kind, smart, driven, authentic, and an amazing woman, and I can’t wait to have her as a partner in life.”
Hilton recently revealed she and Reum have been looking to start a family together through IVF, something she was recommended by her longtime friend, Kim Kardashian. Hilton said she initially started looking into the procedure because it was “the only way” she could ensure that she can have “twins that are a boy and a girl.” At the time, she also noted Reum was her “dream guy” and the two planned to marry.
“I’m really excited just to move on for the next step of my life and finally just have a real life,” she said while appearing on The Trend Reporter with Mara podcast. “Because I really do believe that having a family and having children is the meaning of life,” she continued. “And I haven’t got to experience that yet, because I didn’t feel like anybody deserved that love from me, and now I finally found the person who does.”
