‘Gossip Girl’ Premieres with A Fashionable Fête in New York City
Hey, Upper East Siders! GRAZIA USA here, and we have the biggest news ever. ICYMI, the world premiere of HBO Max’s upcoming “Gossip Girl” reboot premiered in New York City last night—and we have the inside scoop on everything that went down.
The evening began with a stylish red carpet, as these sorts of events often do. However, this wasn’t just any normal step-and-repeat—the premiere took place at Spring Studios, AKA the city’s premiere venue for New York Fashion Week shows. Fittingly, the cast came dressed to impress in bold and statement-making ensembles.
Whitney Peak wore a sheer cape and strapless gown from Chanel’s pre-fall 2021 collection (which made sense, as the starlet is one of the French label’s newest brand ambassadors). Jordan Alexander made a bold statement in an all-white corset, flared trousers, and sheer mask by Wiederhoeft. Emily Alyn Lind was utterly chic in a Gucci vest and trousers, while her onscreen beau Evan Mock wore a two-toned suit by the Italian label—along with its’ signature shoulder bag. Both Thomas Doherty and Eli Brown were sharply suited in all-white outfits—Givenchy and Thom Browne, respectively. Rounding out the carpet was Savannah Smith in a sleek Louis Vuitton minidress, and Zion Moreno in a navy Armani gown. Blogger-turned-actress Tavi Gevinson also wowed in a floral Stella McCartney dress with a velvet Roger Vivier handbag.
A similarly stylish crowd attended the premiere alongside the show’s rising stars, turning the event into verifiable Fashion Week who’s who. Designer Christian Siriano, actresses Emma Kenney and Kathryn Gallagher, and influencers Jessica Wang, Jenny Cipoletti, Parker Kit Hill, and Coco Bassey were all in attendance. Following them was a fashionable gaggle of media elite, ranging from People‘s Dan Wakeford to Fashionista‘s Tyler McCall.
The crowd then flocked indoors for the premiere screening of the show’s steamy first episode—which, judging from the applause heard in blacked-out videos from multiple attendees, is anticipated to be a rousing success. They ended the night with a chic afterparty on Spring’s rooftop, complete with a dinner of JG Melon cheeseburgers and slices from Joe’s Pizza served by model waiters in St. Jude’s T-shirts. The bar, of course, was open.
“Gossip Girl” has been gaining traction since filming throughout New York City this year, with the show premiering on July 8 on HBO Max next week. In case you’ve got FOMO from the festivities, not to worry—the show’s Instagram page announced a collaborative fashion show with Monse, set to be live-streamed on July 7 at 9pm.
