Place In Hollywood

The bob is the beauty behemoth
that has rightfully earned a spot on every celebrity hairstylist’s
“in” list throughout greater Los Angeles. With the fervour around
the chic, chin-length crop reaching new heights in 2023,
one would assume the zeitgeist would’ve found a new style to be
besotted with by now. But if the red carpet at the
2024 Golden Globes is to be believed, short tresses will always
have a place in Hollywood.
Given the Golden Globes took
place a week into the new year, you could mistake these trims to be
remnants of the great bob fixation. Yet, with Emma Stone, Jennifer
Aniston and Cailee Spaney debuting reduced lengths on the red
carpet, it’s apparent 2024’s iteration of the bob has leading lady
qualities.
Take Carey Mulligan and America
Ferrera, for instance. The actresses both looked to defined,
jaw-grazing cuts perfected with high-shine sleekness and anti-frizz
smoothing. However, it was the differing approaches to achieve
their lustrous locks that made all the difference, with Mulligan
emulating a more 1920s “French bob” style fitting for her vintage
Schiaparelli gown from 1949. Ferrera, on the other hand, sported a
slight flick at the end of her hair reminiscent of the classic 90s
flip.
With awards season ramping up,
this perpetual favourite could continue to have A-listers in
chokehold thanks to its silky ease. But as the
beauty looks on the red carpet have proven, 2024 is already
shaping up to be the year of the fuss-free visage. Also looking for
a personal makeover to commence January with? Nothing says “new
year, new me” quite like a bold departure from your lengths. Ahead,
take inspiration from the myriad bob haircuts on the red carpet at
Hollywood’s biggest night of the year.
