Mere minutes ago, Gigi Hadid personally confirmed reports she’s expecting her first child with Zayn Malik. Speaking to US host Jimmy Fallon via video link, the 25-year-old model told him she’s indeed pregnant.

“Obviously, you know, we wish we could’ve announced it on our own terms, but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support so…” Hadid said, hinting she was just beat out on the announcement – by media outlets and possibly her own mother – when it came to sharing her pregnancy news.

“I’m trying [to be present for every part of it],” she continued. “Especially during this time, it’s a nice silver lining to be able to be home and together and really experience it.”

Hadid also revealed her biggest craving became part of her birthday cake. “My craving has been everything bagels,” she said. “I eat an everything bagel everyday and so I was already like, so excited that my birthday cake was the everything bagel.”

A couple of hours ago, Hadid’s mother Yolanda also confirmed her daughter’s news.  “I’m excited to become an Oma in September especially after I lost my mom so recently,” she told Dutch media outlet RTL Boulevard. “But this is the beauty of life: One soul leaves us and a new one comes in. We feel very blessed.”

Hadid’s interview with Fallon comes two days after American publications TMZ and Entertainment Tonight broke the news to the world.

“Gigi and Zayn are expecting their first child together and the couple is very excited!” one source told Entertainment Tonight. “Gigi has kept the secret close to her family and friends for a while as she’s only a few months along. Once Gigi and Zayn got back together at the end of last year, it was like they never skipped a beat and knew what they had was special. The couple and their families are overjoyed.”

In February, the model spoke about her desire to have children – in the future – with i-D magazine. “I think that as I get older… well one day I’ll start a family and I don’t know if I will always be modeling,” she said. “I love the creative side of fashion, it’s so fulfilling. The people I work with make me so happy, I’m so lucky to be around them. But who knows? Maybe I’ll take up fulltime cooking!”
