The premiere of Ticket to Paradise is fast approaching as Julia Roberts makes her long awaited return to the romantic comedy genre. Alongside the actress is George Clooney who will portray her estranged ex-husband as they reunite for the controversial wedding of their daughter in Bali.

In a wholesome interview with the New York Timesthe two co-stars joked about the kiss they share in the film and admitted it took a long time to get right, “like, six months.” “Yeah. I told my wife, ‘It took 80 takes,'” Clooney told the publication. “She was like, ‘What the hell?'”

“It took 79 takes of us laughing and then the one take of us kissing,” Roberts added. Clooney responded, “Well, we had to get it right.”

Similarly to Roberts, Clooney said he hadn’t filmed a rom-com since One Fine Day. “I haven’t succeeded like Julia has in that forum,” Clooney said, “but I read it and thought, ‘Well, if Jules is up for it, I think this could be fun.'”

Roberts echoed this same notion and told the publication that Ticket to Paradise “somehow only made sense with George, just based on our chemistry.”

The actress who is best known for her appearances in films like Pretty Woman and My Best Friend’s Wedding, explained in an earlier interview that she stopped making rom-coms because of the scripts. “If I had read something that I thought was that Notting Hill level of writing or My Best Friend’s Wedding level of madcap fun, I would do it. They didn’t exist until this movie that I just did that Ol Parker wrote and directed,” she said.

Ticket to Paradise hits theaters Oct. 21.
