Kate Middleton
From Green Smoothies to Sticky Toffee Pudding, This Is What Kate Middleton Eats in a Day

Green smoothies, vegetarian lunches, family pizza nights and one very British dessert. The Princess of Wales has never given a full interview about what she eats. Yet over the years, chefs, royal reporters and Kate herself have dropped enough details to sketch out a surprisingly complete picture of her day on a plate.

It is healthy, but not joyless. And it ends with a dessert most people would happily order.

Breakfast: Something Green and Something Warm

Kate reportedly starts the day with a green juice or smoothie. According to a MailOnline report cited by HELLO!, the blend includes kale, spinach, romaine, spirulina, matcha, coriander leaves and blueberries. It is a nutrient-dense way to get vegetables in early.

She is also said to enjoy a bowl of oatmeal, a fiber-rich option that keeps you full through a busy morning of engagements.

Lunch: Mostly Meat-Free

Reports suggest Kate keeps lunch largely vegetarian. A 2014 Daily Mail article listed her favorites as watermelon salads, tabbouleh, ceviche and gazpacho, and her go-to watermelon salad is said to include feta, cucumber and avocado.

The clearest evidence comes from the couple’s 2016 tour of India. Chef Raghu Deora, who cooked for them at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel, said he served vegetable kebabs and lentil curry. “It is all vegetarian because I was told that was what they preferred,” he explained, as reported by HELLO!.

Prince William has also shared one of their joint favorites. “My wife and I love sushi,” he told a chef at Japan House London.

Dinner: Roast Chicken and Family Pizza

In the evening, Kate cooks. Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl wrote in Vanity Fair in 2012 that “in the evenings she indulges her hobby of cooking William’s favourite supper, roast chicken.”

With three children, dinners have become more family-friendly. Kate has said she makes homemade pizza and pasta with her kids, according to People. On a school visit, she was even quoted mentioning that her children “made cheesy pasta the other day.”

Her children seem to have inherited her tastes. During a 2018 visit to Great Ormond Street Hospital, she told a four-year-old patient: “I used to eat lots and lots of olives when I was little as well.” She also told the Aga Khan before the couple’s 2019 tour of Pakistan that “Charlotte is pretty good with heat.”

Dessert: The Guilty Pleasure

For all the green smoothies, Kate’s favorite dessert is pure comfort. Former royal chef Darren McGrady has said she loves sticky toffee pudding, a dense date sponge drenched in toffee sauce. Chef Rody Warot told People: “For dessert, her favourite is sticky toffee pudding.” She is said to enjoy it at the Old Boot Inn, a pub in Stanford Dingley, Berkshire.

She also bakes. In the 2019 special A Berry Royal Christmas, she told Mary Berry that she stays up until midnight to make her children’s birthday cakes.

What You Can Take From It

Kate’s approach is less a diet than a balance: vegetables early, lighter lunches, home-cooked dinners and room for dessert. You can borrow the structure easily. Start with a green smoothie or oatmeal, build lunch around vegetables and legumes, cook something simple in the evening and keep a treat on the menu.

From green smoothies to sticky toffee pudding, Kate Middleton‘s day on a plate proves that eating well and enjoying food are not opposites.
