Friends star Matthew Perry has ended his engagement to 29-year-old fiance Molly Hurwitz amid allegations he was on dating website Raya. The 51-year-old confirmed their split in a statement which read: “Sometimes things just don’t work out and this is one of them. I wish Molly the best.”

Molly, a literary manager, and Matthew met in 2018 and became engaged in November 2020. At the time the actor shared the news by joking: “I decided to get engaged. Luckily, I happened to be dating the greatest woman on the face of the planet at this time.”

The decision to end their romance comes a week after it was claimed that Molly had “put their wedding on hold” after he “flirted with other women on a dating app during their break.”

A 20-year-old Los Angeles-based personal assistant alleged that she had matched with Matthew on the site when she was 19 and he was 50. Although they never met in person Kate Haralson said he made her feel uncomfortable and had joked that he could be her father. Kate shared video of their FaceTime calls on TikTok but she later removed them from her account as she felt “a little bit bad” that people were hating.

However, she defended her initial choice to share them publicly, claiming: “I feel like a lot of guys in Hollywood are talking to all these young girls and it’s something that I think a lot of people should be aware of.”

Matthew has never been married but dated Julia Roberts for a year in the 90s and actress Lizzy Caplan for six years until they split in 2012. He has long battled substance abuse issues, including vicodin and alcohol, and once claimed he has no recollection of at least three years of filming the hit 90s comedy Friends.

He recently reunited with his Friends co-stars – Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc – for a HBO Max special which saw the six return to the set of the comedy and reminisce about the 10 seasons they filmed.

As well as starring the main cast, the episode featured a number of A-list guests including David Beckham, Justin Bieber, BTS, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga, Elliott Gould, Kit Harington, Larry Hankin, Mindy Kaling, Thomas Lennon, Christina Pickles, Tom Selleck, James Michael Tyler, Maggie Wheeler, Reese Witherspoon and Malala Yousafzai.
