Have you been curious about Marvel’s upcoming film, Eternals? Well it looks like we just gained some insider details on what Angelina Jolie’s character, Thena, may entail. A producer from the movie, Nate Moore, revealed in a recent interview the ins and outs of Jolie’s character and how her struggles with illness inform her story. This sounds like a monumental feat on Jolie’s end, but we’re talking about the same actress who embodied Maleficent, so needless to say we think she can handle a bit of tough acting.

According to the producer, Jolie’s character Thena suffers from severe memory loss, apparently due to the extremely prolonged nature of her life.

“She has a tragic story in our film in that she comes down with something called Mahd Wy’ry. If you guys are fans of comics, Mahd Wy’ry is something that can beset an Eternal,” Moore said. “It’s a version of dementia. Because of the amount of memories they have, they become unstuck in their own mind, so she starts to forget exactly when she is, so through the course of the movie, Gilgamesh becomes her protector.”

Apparently, when we’re introduced to Jolie’s character, she and Gilgamesh are secluded in a cabin in the remotest part of Australia, out of fear that she is “too dangerous” to be around humans.

In terms of character styling for this role, we’ve seen Jolie lose her signature dark hair for a head full of bleach blonde hair, which lends itself to the ethereal and mystical nature of her character.

Chloe Zhao, the director of the film who recently won an Oscar for her work on Nomadland, said of Eternals’ two-and-a-half hour runtime “It could be longer! You know, it’s ten characters, the Celestials and 7,000 years. There’s a lot going on.”

I don’t know about you, but i’ll take two-and-a-half hours or more of Angelina Jolie’s acting, without question.
