Quarantine hasn’t been kind to our roots. While many people are just peeking their heads out their doors to assess the safety of the new world, they do so with unruly hair and highlights halfway down their heads.
Following Kaia Gerber’s update to peak blonde yesterday, book club friend and activist Emily Ratajkowski has taken the plunge to platinum blonde. “BLONDE” the 29-year-old captioned her latest post, before tagging in her joint journey to with luxury hair care line Kérastase.

Ratajkowski had previously teased her 27 million Instagram followers with photoshopped pictures of her a blonde, asking fans to imagine the lighter hue.
“I’ve never colored my hair or changed the length significantly in my entire life!,” Ratajkowski said in a statement. “I just celebrated my birthday and am so happy to be coming out of quarantine with a fresh new look. Beauty is meant to be fun and expressive and this is definitely, hands down, the most fun I’ve ever had with my look before.”
Over at Kérastase’s Instagram, they broke down Ratajkowski’s new hair care routine which includes three beauties from their Blond Absolu range: Bain Ultra-Violet to offset brassy tones, Ciciflash to prevent breakage and Ciciplasme to protect.

While gradually lightening her hair for a couple of months now, Gerber’s move to peroxide was reportedly a reaction to being bored in isolation. “I got to the point in quarantine where I was like, ‘I’m either going to cut my hair or dye it,’” Gerber told Refinery 29 in an interview in April. “I don’t know if I’d recommend this, but I just used hydrogen peroxide…I literally put the straight peroxide on my hair and then dried it with a blowdryer – just to hit it with heat – and it definitely lightened my color a shade or two, just a subtle change.”
From one new blonde to another, Gerber commented on Ratajkowski’s hair reveal with the love heart eyes emoji. One thing’s for certain, their next book club session will look very different.
