The Belgian designer, Dries Van Noten, is expanding his business’ range and bringing the vibrant, colorful prints that have long defined the clothing of his eponymous label into the beauty space. Available online now, Van Noten is launching his next venture with 10 fragrances and 30 lipsticks, as well as scented soaps and creams.

Just like the way he would juxtapose couture and streetwear with clashes of prints, he’s bringing that eye for bold looks to the brand’s packaging — and formulas. As Van Noten says in the press release, he often works with “impossible combinations” and wanted to translate those skills he’s perfected into the genderless perfume by playing around with contrasting ingredients to create something new. He found that delightfully fun and unexpected balance in both the scents and the bottle design.

“It’s really a dream project,” Van Noten says in the release. “I have now the possibility to translate my vision in fashion to beauty and perfume.”

While noting that “it’s such a different world” he feels “inspired” by the possibilities. “We always use makeup for our fashion shows sometimes more subtle, sometimes more loud, and now of course we can create our own ingredients to create that look. It’s a very interesting way to use color on the face and translate an emotion, and that for me was really fascinating.”

He says creating these new products has been like “creative ping-pong,” and expanded his creativity to designing accessories like scarves and makeup bags that match the packaging of the perfume bottles and lipstick tubes.

The only thing better than the bold designs is the sustainable mindset behind all of the packaging. Refills of the eau de parfum come in recyclable glass bottles, while the lipsticks also come in refillable tubes to fit into your colorful case.
