Now that NYFW has officially come to a close, it’s time to chat about some of the biggest street style trends spotted in the city. To kick things off let’s discuss denim — and no, we’re not talking about a regular old pair of blue jeans. This season, denim on denim ensembles were everywhere, from street style stars, to editors, and influencers all showing off new interpretations of the beloved Canadian tuxedo. These denim on denim looks were new and fresh with pieces ranging from denim corsets to jean-boots!
Below, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite interpretations of the trend along with some funky denim pieces to shop now.
Goodbye denim minis, hello denim midi and maxi skirts. Emili Sindlev is seen sporting two of the season’s hottest trends — a vest and a denim maxi skirt.
For the ultimate model-off-duty look, throw on a denim jacket with a matching pair of pants. To get that cool girl vibe, make sure you go oversized, then finish things off with some edgy accessories and viola you’re good to go.
When rocking head to toe denim it’s important to think about different washes and textures. This is the perfect example of mixing two different color washes. The tube top has a denim effect but the knit material adds in a new texture to break up the look.
The silky lingerie peaking out of the jeans and corset are an unexpected twist that gives the overall look a bit of softness.
Denim on denim doesn’t always have to be super edgy. A Canadian tuxedo can be quite chic, as seen here.
