All that glitters is not gold. Tell that to Doja Cat, who took her seat, front row at A.W.A.K.E. Mode’s Paris Fashion Week presentation sporting glittering, gold metallic skin. I don’t just mean she rocked a luminescent glow — the “Kiss Me More” musician’s face shined so bright, she could have doubled as her Grammy Award.
Like many of her adventurous, experimental makeup moments, artist Laurel Charleston is to thank for the golden look, as well as other standout styles Doja Cat wore throughout both New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week. Charleston was responsible for her look at Mônot, Thom Browne, Vivienne Westwood and others, while makeup artist Sophia Sinot created more must-see looks at Givenchy and Balenciaga.
This summer, Doja Cat made headlines after she shaved both her head and eyebrows. Ever since, the rapper and singer has used her face as a blank canvas, sporting avant-garde beauty looks consisting of innovative, meticulously executed face paint, and unexpected drawn-on or embellished eyebrows.
“I feel like I was never supposed to have hair anyway,” she said in an Instagram Live in August. “I don’t like having hair. I never liked having hair. I cannot tell you one time since the beginning of my life that I’ve ever been like, ‘This is cool.’ I just do not like to have hair.”
She’s made the dramatic change work in her favor, putting on a parade of daring beauty statements throughout the Spring/Summer 2023 fashion week season we won’t soon forget. Below, we’re rounding every look of Doja Cat’s through fashion month that you may have missed but have to see.
A.W.A.K.E. mode
Doja Cat arrived to the A.W.A.K.E Mode presentation in an all plaid ensemble topped off with a fuzzy winter coat and her entire face and neck covered in gold paint. The musician kept on-theme with a metallic gold manicure, plus an assortment of gold rings and gold earrings.
Lanvin
Attending the Lanvin runway show at Paris Fashion Week, Doja Cat kept it a bit more simplistic, with blonde brows, a blue accent around her eye, and a matching her royal blue mani and blue fuzzy coat.
Thom Browne
At the Thom Browne show, Doja Cat sported the designer’s signature red, white, and blue stripe painted on her lower lip and down her chin. She accessorized with a printed red, white and blue scarf, too.
GIVENCHY
The “Need to Know” singer attended Matthew Williams’ presentation for Givenchy with studded brows, a smokey eye, and a black striped glossy lip.
Balenciaga
You should see the other guy. Looking like she just came out of a brawl, Doja Cat attended the Balenciaga runway show with thin black eyebrows, winged eyeliner, a darkly lined lip, and some faux cuts and bruises. Accompanying her fake black eye, the musician’s knuckles were also made to look bruised and bloody.
MÔNOT
Doja Cat was almost unrecognizable at the Mônot presentation. The musician wore a long black wig with white and blue-contoured face paint, topped with a bold red lip. With an impressively long manicure, the Grammy winning artist had her hands and nails painted black, all the way up to her forearm.
Vivienne Westwood
The star sported a dramatic black graphic eye at Vivienne Westwood’s Spring/Summer 2023 presentation.
‘Vogue’ World Runway show
Attending the Vogue World fashion show, Doja Cat sported white swirl abstract face paint across her whole head. She sported thin eyebrows with a white polka dot in the middle, winged eyeliner, long lashes, and lined red lips.
Coach
The rapper attended the Coach runway show wearing dramatic winged eyeliner, miles-long lashes, and red mini-hearts scattered across her eyes. She completed her look with dark pink lined lips.
Daily Front Row Fashion Media AwardS
The star rocked thin black painted-on brows with hearts in the middle, above a smokey eye with thick lashes. She stuck to her signature with over-lined lips in a muted rose hue.
For the same event, the musician wore a red-painted anarchy symbol on the back of her bleached pixie cut wig.
Bronx & Banco
The “Say So” singer attended the Bronx & Banco runway presentation in a pale blue cutout dress and silver statement jewelry. The artist wore three bright blue polka dots in a diagonal line — the first was above her eye, the second was on the bridge of her nose, and the last ended below her other eye.
