Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin have always been one of Hollywood’s most private couples. From the most subtle debut of their relationship back in 2017 to a barely-there engagement announcement, the duo have kept tight-lipped about their romance since the start. So when breakup rumours began swirling, we didn’t have the tells—diminished social posting, unfollowings, cryptic quotes, etc—that we’d typically rely on. But this week, fans were soothed by sightings of Johnson and Martin embarking on a stroll through a park in Mumbai, India, on Tuesday, January 21.
The actress and the Coldplay frontman appeared to effortlessly enjoy their time together as they explored the country Martin is currently touring around for the British band’s Music of the Spheres World Tour.
The outing (see pictures here) comes a few months after the Daily Mail and TMZ published reports of a breakup last August. Although both publications cited anonymous sources, a representative of the Madame Web actress came forward to denounce the gossip and set the story straight.
On August 16, a spokesperson told E! News that the breakup rumours were “not true,” adding, “They are happily together.” Johnson was also spotted without her an emerald engagement ring while in Malibu

Despite laying low with their high-profile romance—which has been going strong since 2017—the pair have shared the odd bit of insight here and there.
“We’ve been together for quite a while,” Johnson, 35, told Elle UK during a 2021 interview. “And we go out sometimes but we both work so much that it’s nice to be at home and be cozy and private. Most of the partying takes place inside my house.”
In another profile, Johnson candidly discussed her role as “stepmother” to the two children Martin shares with ex-Gwyneth Paltrow.
“I love those kids like my life depends on it,” she responded when asked if she liked being a stepmother. “With all my heart.”
Martin, 47, reflected on balancing work and personal life during an interview with Rolling Stone. He described Johnson as one of his “best friends” and emphasised their mutual preference to keep their relationship “precious and private.”
