There’s something completely alluring about Dakota Johnson. It’s not her films – all three Fifty Shades of Grey movies were honestly almost impossible to sit through – but her personality, which, though she mostly keeps under wraps, is obviously ridiculously cool. There’s her style – she always looks effortlessly chic in pantsuits, Gucci outfits and the likes of chunky loafers with denim, her interior design – her Architectural Digest house tour was sheer perfection, and, of course, her viral Ellen DeGeneres moment, which kicked off the talk show host’s demise.

Someone who’s keenly aware of Johnson’s charms is musician Chris Martin, who’s been dating the actress for at least three years, and who – by the looks of things – may have recently gone from boyfriend to fiance.

Over the weekend, Johnson was photographed wearing a large green ring on her wedding finger, while wearing no other jewellery on her hands, which seems very much like she’s engaged to be married.

Though the couple never really address their relationship publicly, they did get matching tattoos for each other last year and Johnson hilariously filmed a video of herself washing Martin’s hands to encourage people to be hygienic during COVID.

Neither party has confirmed the engagement – and likely won’t – but back in April, sources told People that they are (clearly) “pretty serious.”

“They are very low-key together,” the source said. “…They seem to enjoy sharing a quiet life. It does seem they are getting more serious.”

Johnson’s also been welcomed into the family by Martin’s ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, who told Harper’s BAZAAR, she absolutely “adores” her.

“I love her. I can see how it would seem weird because it’s sort of unconventional,” Paltrow said. “But I think, in this case, just having passed through it iteratively, I just adore her. I always start to think of the ampersand sign — what else can you bring in, instead of being resistant to or being made insecure by? There’s so much juice in leaning into something like that.”
