Constance Wu

Talk about a well kept secret.

Actress Constance Wu is reportedly a new mom. According to E! News, the actress welcomed a daughter over the summer with boyfriend Ryan Kattner — who records music under the name Honus Honus.

“They are doing great, and they’re so excited and happy,” a source told the outlet on Monday. No other details have been revealed.

The Fresh Off the Boat star, who was included on the annual Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world in 2017, never publicly disclosed her pregnancy and has been silent on social media since May. She was last photographed at the Queerties 2020 Awards Ceremony back in February where she walked the red carpet in a hot pink off-the-shoulder cocktail dress, sans signs of a baby bump.

The 38-year-old was supposed to spend 2020 filming in the highly anticipated sequel to Crazy Rich Asians alongside Henry Golding, Gemma Chan and Awkwafina; however, due to the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic, production has been delayed. For her role as Rachel Chu in the 2018 groundbreaking romantic comedy-drama, she was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, among others. She became the fourth Asian woman to be nominated for the former category and the first Asian actress in 40 years to be nominated for the second.

Wu joins a long list of celebrities who gave birth during the coronavirus crisis including Gigi Hadid, Katy Perry, Sophie Turner, and Ashlee Simpson. Most recently Scream Queens actress Emma Roberts welcomed her first child, a son named Rhodes, with actor boyfriend Garret Hedlund.

Parenthood isn’t the only new venture the Chinese American actress has to look forward to in 2021. Wu, who starred alongside Jennifer Lopez in the 2019 stripper crime drama Hustlers, will appear in independent drama film I Was A Simple Man and is slated to take part in the upcoming Sundance Film Festival as it returns with a hybrid in-person and virtual edition for next year.
