Christie’s Fortune Pink Diamond

On Nov. 8, Christie’s will auction the largest pear-shaped fancy vivid pink diamond as a part of the Geneva Magnificent Jewels collection. In connection with Christie’s Luxury Week, the Fortune Pink diamond is incredibly rare and weighs in at a whopping 18.18 carats — a carat size that signifies prosperity in Asia, according to the auction house — and is estimated be worth $25 million to $35 million.

According to Europe’s largest online diamond jeweler 77 Diamonds, managing director Tobias Kormind has expressed that a piece of this size has great potential to break records.

“The Fortune Pink could prove to be a world record breaker,” said Kormind in a press release. “Diamond industry insiders will be watching keenly to see its price performance following the staggeringly impressive price that the smaller 11.15 carat Williamson Pink Star diamond, of the same color quality as the Fortune Pink, fetched at Sotheby’s last month — the Williamson Pink Star achieved a cool $57.7 million, selling for well over double its estimate price and rocketing past the previous world record for the price per carat of any diamond ever sold at auction.”

The diamond was unveiled at Christie’s New York in early October, and then made its way to Shanghai, Taiwan, and Singapore. It will now be held on display at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Geneva during Christie’s Luxury Week until Nov. 8.

According to Christie’s International Head of Jewelry, Raahul Kadakia said, “After The Rock, a 228-carat diamond sold this May in Geneva, Christie’s is proud to present The Fortune Pink, the largest pear-shaped fancy vivid pink diamond offered for sale at auction. With its auspicious weight of 18.18 carats this exceptional pink diamond of phenomenal color will certainly bring good fortune to its new owner.”
