A multi-million dollar diamond will be on the market next week and it took months to develop. Christie’s Jewellery, a British auction house founded in 1766 by James Christie and based in London is auctioning off the largest diamond ever produced in Russia. The Alrosa Spectacle Diamond which at 100.94 carats, goes on the block at Christie’s Geneva salesroom this Wednesday, May, 12, 2021. The high-priced diamond is estimated to sell between $13 and $19 million. Alrosa, the mining company that crafted the stone took 20 months to polish the diamond from a 207.29 rough gem unearthed in 2016.

This could well mean that during the production process if the rough diamond had been polished further to render it flawless, this might have resulted in a diamond below the prized 100-carat mark. This is the 9th diamond over 100 carats to ever appear at auction and it signifies the appetite for stones of this exceptional caliber.”
