“But why didn’t Carrie call 911 immediately?!” That was the general consensus following the premiere of And Just Like That last week when Mr. Big suffered a heart attack. According to Chris Noth, it was a conscious decision between himself and series creator, Michael Patrick King.

“One thing Michael and I agreed on: We both called it the Bonnie and Clyde moment, which is that moment when Bonnie and Clyde are about to be eviscerated by bullets,” the actor said in a new interview. “They have that look with each other, Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway. They both know that it’s the end.”

He continued, “We knew that we had to have that, that I just shouldn’t die alone in the bathroom. There had to be that last moment and no words, no corny dialogue, just a look, and I thought [King] did it so beautifully.”

A cardiologist for E! News weighed in on the scene and said even if Carrie did call an ambulance, he probably would have died. “More likely than not, if we take this scenario at face value, he was probably going to die regardless.”

Noth was initially quite apprehensive about returning to the show, only to die in the first episode. “When we were in discussions about it—because at first I balked at even the idea of coming back and dying—it just was like, ‘Well, just let it be, you know?'” he shared. “I always know I’m gonna be taken care of by Michael Patrick King, in the writing and shooting and editing, so I felt very comfortable with dying.”

Mr. Big was riding a Peloton bike before he suffered a heart attack. The company shares dropped by 11 percent following the series premiere with the brand’s clever PR team forced to make amends on social media. In partnership with Ryan Reynolds and Noth, the fitness giant created a parody commercial. More on that, here.
