Cher always manages to (we have to say it) turn back time, whenever she steps onto a red carpet. Just like the pioneering outfits she wore early in her career, the 76-year-old singer is still rocking edgy looks that make us do a double take. This time, Cher turned heads at the 2022 CFDA Awards when she arrived in a leather evening dress from Chrome Hearts.

Cher sported an off-the-shoulder leather biker jacket with ruched sleeves with a long leather skirt featuring a thigh-high slit. She teamed the look with equally-edgy accessories, including fishnet stockings, platform heels, a belt at the waist and cross pendants at the hip.
The star has a long history with the brand. In fact, when Chrome Hearts was awarded Accessory Designer Award of the Year by the CFDA in 1992, Cher was on-hand to present the award to Richard Stark, who co-founded the brand in 1988 with Leonard Kamhout and John Bowman. (Now it’s co-owned by Stark and his wife, Laurie Lynn Stark.)

The brand made waves in the punk and rock scenes after their leather and accessories were worn by the Sex Pistols, Motley Crüe and Guns N’ Roses. Cher also became one of their early clients. The brand’s commitment to quality and exclusivity (it can’t be purchased online) has kept them at the top of their game for decades and can count rappers like Travis Scott and Drake among their celebrity fans.
Now, the brand is being honored once again by the CFDA, this time, and the couple will receive the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2022 CFDA Fashion Awards.

Just like 30 years ago, they’re surrounded by an early champion and close friend of the brand, Cher.
